6 On either side of the “river,” make two vertical cuts parallel to the river and through the top layer of clay until you reach the next layer. Peel away the slab of clay to reveal the next layer of clay underneath. This top layer is a cliff-forming layer of rock.
SUPPLIES
at least five colors of play clay
cardboard about 12 inches square
rolling pin
thin wire
blue yarn or embroidery thread (optional)
7 On the next layer, make two cuts at an angle; this is a slope forming layer of rock. Place the wire at the bottom of the top layer and pull it down and towards the river until you reach the next layer. Repeat on the other side of the river, then peel away this layer.
